Reading Recovery?
Does anyone have experience in using the Reading Recovery method? I wonder if I should take the course.

I don’t see any harm in taking it to add to a resume, but I would have a backup plan just in case RR is based on funding. If a distinct loses funding, then RR is wiped out. The one problem that I have with RR is that it doesn’t help all students, but it claims to. They dismiss kids from the program that they don’t think can be successful. This would be fine if they were admitting that it can’t help all students, but they don’t admit failure. I know that this experience is based on the RR teachers that i have dealt with and that not all RR teachers may be like that.

We have the program at the school where I teach and it is really VERY basic. In fact we only use it for our 1st graders. If you want to improve your reading skills there are many programs more suited for whatever your age group is. From what I can see in the question you wrote, you are WELL past the first grade level.
