is there a way of going to a college and getting a degree without taking a MATH class?

I really love the performing arts and would love to be a theatre teacher. Drama..musical theatre. Is there a certain art school that would let me do that?

probably not…you’ll have to take at least one. i had to take one but it was basically a class for people who aren’t math majors or whose majors don’t involve any math so it was pretty easy.

Certainly there is no accredited university that would allow a student to claim they have been educated without a least one math course.

If you’d like to be a theatre teacher, don’t you need at least some basic math to prepare a budget for a performance? Or calculate student grades?

yes – 1) specialize in an area that does not require a mathematical background – but you options are limited (not just science majors use math; psychology or social science students, for example, have to take statistics courses). Check out requirements in fine arts.

and

2) find a college that does not require you to take a math course (or a science or other course that uses math) in order to graduate.

I think students sell themselves short by not including some math and science courses in their freshman or sophomore years, even if their interests are in a totally different area (like yours). People change their majors or career plans, or find opportunities limited in their area of choice. Some background in other disciplines may give you more flexibility.

no.

all undergraduate basic BA’s need a liberal start. You will need to take a few math classes. but you can certainly do this! no one said college would be easy, but we all say it’ll be worth it!

good luck to you!
