I am a 4th year teacher – I was wondering if all students out there could tell me what makes a great teacher?

I teach elective classes, and I’m just looking for new and fun ideas for middle school students. I was wondering if all the students out there or anyone who has been a student could offer some great thoughts. Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

A great teacher is one who can inspire the student to want to learn more, demonstrates enthusiasm for the subject matter and helps the student to relate it to ‘real life.’

As you are teaching middle school ages, help them to see that they have a purpose in life and getting a good education can and will make a difference in the quality of their life.

Bring guest speakers in who can help them relate their studies to ther lives and reinforce the message that a good education is essential.

Thank you for being a teacher. Of the people who have been most influential in my life, aside from my parents, I hold my teachers in high regard.

I have just graduated high school, and looking back now I know that the best teachers didn’t only teach me there subjects they taught me about life. So one way to reach out to your students is to share about your life to an appropriate manner. Try to be funny to while teaching, not corny but funny with jokes. Also one or two Fridays a week have games like jeopardy or some type of learning game, because that will make the kids look forward to going to class. Group projects where there is and incentive like extra credit also helps. The best thing to do would be to bring your subject to life for them. Since you teach electives you will get students who want to be there and who were placed there so try to make the subject interesting to gain every ones attention.

There are over 450,000 Christian churches interior of united statesa. in accordance to maximum well known Tourism merchandising’s internet site and a few others. Assuming that a million/2 of those have a Sunday college (no longer all churches do) and that they are divided in 6 age communities (genuine searching for the 1st 12 years of early lifestyles) with one instructor each and each, it somewhat is almost 3,000,000 Sunday college instructors. the percentages that one in each of three,000,000 human beings, one nut could slip via and and up doing some thing to break a new child is exceptionally stable. it somewhat isn’t any point out that non secular concept became the reason for her action. different smart the form of youngsters being killed in Sunday faculties could exceed an anticipate usual of youngsters been harmed at random. It would not. And to attack the female through fact of exact looks is somewhat a miles less high priced shoot. what’s you next declare, that anybody who has a brilliant brow is a murderer? perchance you’re able to so a number of that prayer for your self, seems such as you have some hate and anger subject concerns which could be dealt with.

ive had some GREAT teachers in my life.. and looking back(on the ones ive had so far, lol) the thing that makes me remember them is……….. how much fun i had in the class. i can tell you about this one teacher. i hated the class so so so so so so much. it was AP european history. ihated reading that text. the terms we had to memorize. all the work. i absolutely hated it. but i looked forward to class everyday. the teacher was great. fun lectures, cared for us, helped me pass the exam(4!!!!), great teacher. theres otherthings but i dont remember, lol.

there was this other one, he was goodtoo. he was like joking around all the time, relating with the students. he was always straightforward about things, and i liked that. like was cruel to us sometimes too. but was a great teacher.

these days, to get a students respect, you gotta respect them. and theres nothing else to it..

be enthusiastic. inspire people. and do lay down the rules on the first day. that kid just wants to do nothing in school. and smile alot. thank you for being a teacher.

i loved all my teachers, even though they all taught differently, and had different personalities. some of my friends didn’t like the teachers though. my point is that you just have to try your best, and teach regardless of how some of your students think.

but for some tips…

1. Be creative, but don’t over do it. The other person said word scrambles and word searches, but I personally didn’t like them because I never learned to spell from them- it was just extra work. the sparkle game is fun though…i’m not too sure that middle school people would like it though, since i played it in 2nd grade. Competition is always a motive for students to learn more. You could have a spelling bee and whoever wins gets a homework pass and candy?

2. Always have set a nice feel in the classroom- I always looked forward to science because our teacher was mature, but she just had this good feel about her and personality that made me more pleasant than in other classes.

3. Let you’re students know that you’re there for them, outside of teaching as well. You don’t have to make a statement, but just have a personaltiy that tells them that they can trust you in talking to you about things.

4. I guess I’m not good at giving tips, but I can tell you what NOT to do. For example, my health teacher…well I didn’t like him. He would talk about something like cancer, then go on to tell a story about how his family member had it. Then at the last 5 minutes of classs he would litearlly say “ok. stop talking. we have to get these notes done,” and end up being behind. I appreciate a teacher whose fun and not strictly to schedule, but to avoid the lesson altogether and blame it on the class?

5. My reading teacher….well she was REALLY nice, but you can tell that she faked it, because her eyes would be stern looking when not facing the class, and whenever she would get mad at someone, she would just erupt, like she’s been bottling in days of pressure. She should’ve just been herself.

yea…sorry those weren’t really tips, but just one last thing- there will always be students that like you a lot, or don’t like you so much. you just have to do your best and be there for them, and teach what you need to

passion for the subject you teach. positive attitude towards all students. not being too serious. no1 likes a grumpy teacher. not being too obsessed about the structure of the lesson and keeping to it. so just being relaxed and friendly.

making your subjects fun. students tend to think school is uninteresting but if you have more hands-on learning then they will like you more. also, be of great help. if a student needs help understanding anything, help them. the more you get your students to like you, the nicer, more cooperative and more understanding of the subject they will be.

i ahd a teacher last year in 7th grade she was so cool. she taught us everything we need to learn but in inventive ways. like learning our spelling word she would have a page of our word scrabled in a list and we had to figure out what they were and a word seach on the back. when we were trying to write good stories we wwrote 3 word on the top of a piece of paper then passed it behind us the person then had to write the begging to the story and had to use all three words . we had 8 min then we would pass them back a gain till she decided the next person had to wrap the story up and then we read them in class…. we also played sparkle to learn our spellin word… you play it by everyone in the classes standing in a circle . the teacher says one of the spellin words and each studunt says one letter in order. if they missed a letter they had to sit for the rest of the game. then when you got to the end of one word the next person says spakle and the person who is next is out. she did this all year and we had a blast…. it was funny to see how long it took some people and how they couldnt remember that all they had to say was sparkle…lol be inventive… how would you have like to have been taught in those classes

I am not a student but a teacher.

Remember that you are not their friend. They have their own friends within their age group. you are a professional.

What children expect from adults is firmness of decisions, they love a structure classroom.

Their brain is under construction and therefore it is not complete, because of this fact they are not able to tell you what makes a good teacher.
