It depends a lot on the district’s needs, but basically you need a teaching credential and you must have passed CBEST. Some districts are more desperate, and only require a bachelor’s in practically anything, but I don’t think anybody waives the CBEST. California has a website for the commission on teacher’s credentials. See www.ctc.ca.gov/ And don’t worry a lot about the CBEST. It tests your knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math. I would suggest you study for it, but it isn’t impossibly difficult.
