Foul language in class?

I also have a strict policy of respect in my room. If it’s legitimately offensive to anyone, it’s not permitted. I explain that foul/derogatory language is offensive to me and therefore is not permitted.
Warning: I have had to give up parts of my sarcastic sense of humor due to this rule, but when the kids see you restrain yourself as well, they so more willingly.
Oh, and if you’re a teacher, then you really can’t force students to stop using curse words because you don’t like to hear it. It should also be against school or county regulation. Otherwise, you will get absolutely nowhere with your requests; they will respect your warnings more if they know that, or you let them know that, you’re not the only one that has a problem with them saying curse words.
Have them write down how it makes them feel when called that name…discuss.
Discuss the origin of words or what the insult means (not putting pop culture spins on them).
