best advice for SAT Vocabulary?

You can buy a book specifically for the SAT vocabulary, and go through it. Memorize words and make flashcards.
What also helps, though. is studying Latin. Most of the words that SAT likes have direct Latin roots, and the more Latin you know, the more you can figure out words that you don’t know from the roots. So find a simple Latin vocabulary builder to study while you study English vocab. I was in Latin 4 my junior year, and I got an 800 on the critical reading part. Granted, you don’t have time to get as much Latin as I did, lol, but you only need the vocab, no the grammar. Memorize Latin and Greek prefixes and suffixes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefix_%28linguistics%29 ). You’ll be surprised how much it helps. Any foreign language helps, really, and part of it is just a matter of thinking about the words in terms of roots and similar words.
Both www.webster.com and www.dictionary.com will email you a Word of the Day, for an added bit of vocab.
SAT has a Question of the Day you can get emailed to you too, so even if you don’t want to study intensively every day (and who does?) you can still spend a few minutes each day thinking about test questions. About every third day is a vocabulary question. http://apps.collegeboard.com/qotd/question.do
Good luck!
I heard that theres a CD out there also that you can listen to when you are just laying down/driving around/bored that says all the words and definitions.
basically the best way is reading it and memorizing it. I KNOW IT SUCKS but thats life.
I took the test twice in high school: once as a junior and once as a senior. My verbal score jumped 120 points between junior and senior year with 0 preperation and studying before both tests.
I essentially just got hit almost entirely with stuff I knew on the second one.
