I wish! That’d be great to go to school and be paid to learn!

Not sure who you are directing the question at…

I career switched from health care admin to teaching. I have a double major undergrad, a Master’s in Health Admin, a Master’s in Teaching, and now am working on a graduate reading specialist degree. After that, perhaps some admin classes in education. So, in a sense, I am a professional student while I am a 2nd grade teacher, husband, and father. For the classes I am interested in, there really aren’t grants that will support me and my family while being a full time student. Also, my classes really require that I learn from and try out my theory in the real classroom…..

No one can have a “career” as a Professional Student for the simple fact that it does not pay, or allow you to meet your basic needs.

Education is very important, but at some point you have to use what you have learned and apply it to a paying job in order to feed yourself!

People should go to school as long as it helps them advance in their “Paying Career”. If it’s to go just to go then that is their career but if they are going back to start in a new filed or to get more money in their current job then its time well spent.
