MBA, there are way more options in this field and the pay is usually better when it comes to business jobs.

MBA is a good degree that is of benefit in most jobs. It’s also a “cookie cutter” degree that many, MANY people have and the quality of the degree can vary, depending on the school.

Nurses are in high demand right now. A friend has traveled all over the US taking short term contracts at hospitals and has done quite well. However an RN might pigeonhole you to the health care industry.

Lastly, I’d say that an RN can do the job of an MBA, but an MBA cannot do the work of an RN.

You’re comparing two different fields entirely. Rns are in great demand though, while MBAs are a dime a dozen. So many people have that.

I’d suggest a law degree which can lead to corporate law or other corporate options. Some schools offer MBA/JD degrees.

Still if you are interested in healthcare, which is a field that is sure to need more people. A friend was a Nurse Practicioner and she had a lot of skill, and a fascinating job.

See a career counselor to help clarify what will really make you happy, before you start an expensive degree program.

I think that it depends solely on you and what you want to do in your future.

Registered nurses constitute the largest health care occupation, with 2.4 million jobs. About 3 out of 5 jobs are in hospitals. The three major educational paths to registered nursing are a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree, and a diploma from an approved nursing program. Registered nurses are projected to create the second largest number of new jobs among all occupations; job opportunities in most specialties and employment settings are expected to be excellent, with some employers reporting difficulty in attracting and retaining enough RNs.

Median annual earnings of registered nurses were $52,330 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $43,370 and $63,360. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $37,300, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $74,760.

I’m sorry but I don’t know much about MBA’s and their future paths but I hope that my RN information was helpful. The link follows.

Cheers!
