Wanting to study abroad for a semester.?

I am going to be a sophmore in high school this year and would like to find a study abroad program for either England or Ireland if possible. Most programs though are priced outragousely and my family doesn’t have that kind of money. Also I would like to just travel abroad for a semester not the whole year. I’ve checked with our rotary and they offer only year long travels, does anyone know of any other programs that I could look into that offer semester long trips to study abroad but are also affordable?

Most exchange organizations offer semester programs, but quite frankly they are almost as expensive as the year-long ones, and don’t have nearly the language benefits. If you are going to spend the money, the year is the way to go.

However, if you are looking for a program, you can start by going to www.csiet.org. That site lists all the programs certified to operate within the US. You should also ask your high school counselor which programs he/she recommends. Generally there are one or two which are strong in your area with good local people.

I wouldn’t totally sweat the money. There are ways a good organization can help you with scholarships, fund raising ideas, etc. You also have time if you go your junior year (the best choice) to get a job and raise some money on your own.

This is definitely a life-changing experience. It will also help you with college admissions and with earning power down the road (languages).

Good luck!

Most colleges have a good study abroad program, usually with schools where the tuition cost is similar to their own. You can also keep financial aid and scolarships so you really won’t be paying much extra. If you can wait a few years, just pick a college that has a good study abroad program. Several do, but the college I’m going to has study abroad for a semester or a 3 week summer trip. One of the universities they use for a semester of study is in Ireland. If you want to check them out go to www.queens.edu. it’s a small university in Charlotte, NC. Also look around for other colleges with good programs; the programs in college are usually much more affordable than ones in high school.

Well, That’s the best choice of yours if possible.

But as well as i know no one gonna offer you for a semester in any of their colleges or universities either in UK or Ireland.

But one thing is possible in UK or Ireland for you to fill up dreams to stay for a period that semester may take and that is any kind of short course as like as diploma, certificate, language courses as well.

I am sure these courses are affordable and easiest way to get admitted.

Obviously this the way that would sooth you as much as you like.
