U.S universities ??

my friend’s completed her 12th grade in india.

she’d like to apply to the U.S universities for her undergraduate course.

i’d like to know if the US universities accept international students with distance learning certificates.

my friend’s done her 12th grade through a correspondence course.

she has a valid, legal and good to go certificate from a good and recognised university/board. but it says that she’s a private student [not a regular student with attendence].

will she be accepted…..?

If she officially graduated, did well on the SATs, has the funding to pay the international tuition fee, and can get a Student Visa from Homeland Security…then Yes, some school would probably accept her.

Many US universities accept students from overseas. But it’s hard to say if she will be accepted at any specific university unless you happen to find an admissions officer for that school here.

I would recommend that she contact several schools that interest her or offer a degree in what she wants to study, and ask them directly. She can contact them online easily. She may have to present evidence of her schooling, like a transcript, or also scores of any standardized tests that she has taken. Good luck!

she has to take an SAT exam with a good grade and she has to have a good GPA (like more than %80) with her certificate. I’m not sure that she will be accepted as a private student. Does she have a chance to change her diploma type? Maybe she can get a good recommendation from one of her teachers/professors

portland state university in portland, oregon has sooo many international students – the campus prides itself on diversity.

also, many children in oregon state are home-educated, and they have no problems getting accepted.

every college in the u.s. has a website (you can find some by going to google and typing in “universities and colleges” and name the state of interest). Every college website has a section for admissions and prospective students. in that section is contact information and your friend can email the school’s admissions department and find out if she meets the requirements before she even decides to apply for admission.

good academic standing, community involvement and extracirricular activities (varsity sports, or school clubs) are most important in u.s. school admissions.

Indians make up the largest portion of all international students attending US Universities. I’m sure you’ll receive adequate assistance from whichever university if you ask them and tell them about your case.
