Studying In Japan?

I want to study abroad the Japanese language in Japan but I want to know if it is possible to work at the same time. I’ve read 2 different procedural guides for getting started and they say something similar to:

-If you are studying short-term, working is prohibited by law

-If you are studying long-term, you are only allowed to work part time for a maximum of 4 hours a day.

Working 4 hours a day will not be enough to cover tuition and boarding, so I’d like to know if there is a way around this? Maybe a special type of Visa that will allow me more freedom to be in Japan for the purpose of studying and working.

If you’re in college, you might be able to get financial aid if the program you are attending is recognized by your school. This was the only way I was able to afford studying abroad in Japan, as I only had a cultural visa, which prohibited me from any sort of job.

Although a few of my classmates were tutoring English for a bit of cash, they weren’t making nearly enough to cover anything but incidental expenses.

Seriously, if you have the chance to study abroad, DO IT. I don’t care if you have to take out student loans. It was SOOOO worth it for me to go to Japan and I’m definitely making more money because I did.

Japan has a working holiday program deal with certain countries (Australia, NZ and one or two other countries). You could work then I suppose but I’m not sure about studying (you probably can).

There is no way you can get a proper job in Japan when you’re a student so be prepared to earn 1000 yen per hour. That’s 4000 yen a day x7 = 28 000 per week which isn’t bad at all imho but still probably is not enough to cover tuition and board. You could teach English part-time
