Is it worthwhile for an architect to do a PhD in Sustainable Design/Environmental Engineering?
I am 25 years old. I have a Diploma in Architecture, an MSc in Energy Efficiency of Buildings and 2 years work experience. I have the opportunity to do a PhD (I have been offered the funding for a full time program). I love research and I am really interested in doing that. But people around me have been really discouraging, telling me that I will lose real-world experience. What should I do?

Oh get the PhD! If you like doing it and it sounds like something you want to do then the work experience will catch up!
Especially since the world is going green day-by-day I’d say the real jobs are going to open up for designing large housing systems from neighborhoods to buildings to cities and parks. So your degree would be right up the alley of what people are looking for!
