Tell him that…

1. You understand high school AND college isn’t for everyone, but….

2. This could completely mess up his future

3. Get a tutor, say that you believe in him and that he could pull up his grades

4. He is just a freshmen, wait AT LEAST another year to decide!!!

good luck! 🙂

Let him know that the 1st year of high school is rough on everyone – not knowing where you fit in, stress from teachers and homework etc… Let him know that if he drops out of school, he will not be able to get a decent job when he is older. He’ll either be working in a fast food restaurant, gas station attendant or in the mall and not making much money, or doing something illegal that could end him up in jail or worse. Tell him to stay in school, talk to his teachers or school counselor about getting help with classes and study instead of goofing off.

You need to let your friend know that the first year of high school is rough for everybody, not just for him. It was rough for me. I HATED it. I have a friend who was seriously considering dropping out of high school. You need to tell your friend that if he decides to drop out, he cannot go back like you can in college. The older you are, the harder it gets. Your friend needs to put more effort into his academic career and once he sees that he can accomplish good grades, he will be more inclined to stay in school. Your friend should talk to his parents about this, also.

He has three more years to get his grades on track, he can do it! I know many people who have – dropping out of high school will be the biggest mistake he could make. Even if he goes to get a GED there is nothing compared to a HS diploma.

I hope you can change his mind – best of luck!

Its not for everybody. I suggest you tell him to start learning a trade right away !! Some of those skilled jobs may be exactly what he needs, they can also pay decent money. Why waste time pushing him to do something he wont ever succeed in unless he wants it. Not only that but a high school diploma is way over rated. Its probably the most worthless piece of paper I ever earned.
