how do you start a riot or other gathering of mass amounts at a high school?

well, a regular summer break is like 2 months. in our schools in our state, they changed it so that we would gradually decrease to only 5 weeks of summer. i say that isn’t fair, students and teachers don’t like this. in fact, students had no say in it. most of the students feel powerless and follow the rules, after all their just kids. what can they do? a teacher wanted to start a petition for the summer back with a paper that claimed it was illegal. no one listened because they didn’t believe it. schools have great power. you don’t have to explain to me why they did it, i know. all about how they used summer vacations for kids to harvest crops. it also takes away a lot of money a student could make for college from full times jobs during the summer.

thank you, any help is greatly appreciated

you have to get the word out. talk to the teacher who wanted to start the paper, then just let everyone know where and when. post in on myspace, facebook, leave it as an away message, text all your friends, and have them do the same. post flyers if you feel like it. show some commitment if you have to, and have everyone skip a much of the first week or school that they can. good luck with that, i would be so p!ssed if someone tried to take away my summer vacation

You would have to petition your school district’s school board, since they are the ones who make decisions about polices, including those regarding attendance/length of school year. You would need to get teachers, students, parents, and other important community figures on board with your stance. Find out when your district has its next school board meeting and have your group ready to go at that meeting. It doesn’t sound like it will change anything in the immediate future, but perhaps you could encourage your school board to change their minds for the future.
