What’s the lowest SAT score a person can get and still advance to become a National Merit Finalist?
all the packet says is a high score, they don’t have a range or anything. and i’d be a lot less worried if i knew what they absolutely wouldn’t accept

Well, it’s the PSAT score that determines a national merit finalist.
Look in your booklet. You will see ranges. The top 1.5% become Semi-Finalists. Therefore, everyone who scores in the top percentile has a high enough score to be considered for scholarships. Find out what those are.

The SAT they want you to take is really just a confirmation that you didn’t cheat on the PSAT. If you do decently, and not like an 1800 on your SAT when you got a 214 on your PSAT, you’ll be fine. I’ve never heard of anyone getting disqualified for their SAT score. And for the finalist status, as long as you don’t get dq’d (I think. Again, I don’t actually know if they dq), I believe it’s simply based on your PSAT scores. And I’m not sure that your score is high enough, but then again the Wisconsin standard may be lower.

National Merit comes from your PSAT score, not SAT score
and it changes depending on the state, but I’d say the lowest for a finalist is probably around 215+

Are you a semi-finalist right now? I am π 15 out of every 16 semifinalists make it to being finalists so unless you did way worse on the SAT than on the PSAT it shouldn’t hurt you, they only ask for the SAT score to make sure you haven’t suddenly gone really stupid after taking the PSAT.

It changes every year and depends on the scores that everybody else had that year. My sisters were both National Merit Finalists. π

It probably varies from year-to-year. Most likely, they take the top N% from each test year. Since the scores and test difficulty vary from year-to-year, so will the NMF cut-off.
