What do you think of my position right now in school…?

Im a very boring student if you look at me.

Freshman year – No clubs, Football and Spring Track. No Honors courses. GPA of 3.2 and class rank of 211 out of like 350. (Terrible i know)

Volunteer Work – Missions in Guatemaula for a week.

Sophomore year – No clubs, Football and Winter Track. No Honors courses. GPA of 3.4 – 3.6 and class rank is on wait.

Junior year which I am going into right now – Joining 3-4 Clubs. Football and Winter Track or Spring Track. Honors courses are Algebra 2 Honors and Spanish 4 Honors. GPA hoping for a 3.7-4.0 range. Class rank I hope to get at least Top 150.

SAT – Im taking SATclasses as of this moment. I took the PSAT beginning of sophomore year and got a terrible score(1350 if you must know..) I took a diagnostics after taking three weeks of SAT classes and I improved by 250 points (1650) I am planning on taking 2 SAT II sub tests, Math 1C and either Chem or Physics.

What are my chances into getting into a decent known college/university?

The most important things colleges look at are test scores, then grades, then last is activities and volunteer work.

#1. Work on your SAT!! It is sooo important..I live in Oklahoma, and they look at ACT scores here, I made a 32 out of 36 points possible, and was able to get a full ride scholarship at every school I wanted to go to (In oklahoma)

#2. Get your grades up as high as possible!! A good GPA can make up for a lack of extracurriculars..and being in the top % of your class is really important. Take as many AP’s as possible, but only if you can do good in them. They will really help out your GPA, since they are based on a higher point scale usually.

#3. Join clubs. Do volunteer work. Make contacts with important people so that you can get really good recommendations.

Lastly..start thinking about essays. Go online to the colleges you would like to go to and see what their essay requirements are..then start formulating them and get help from your English teachers..

What is so bad about you? You sound fine. I mean your not going to get into Harvard by is that what you are looking for? There are alot of smaller school that would be very interested in you. For example you should check out my school Ramapo. It is in New Jersey just outside if NYC. It is a very good school (rated as one of the best in the east). You could get accepted here with those stats. The volunteering thing from freshmen year is great. Can you do some more volunteering? Schools love that. I reccomend that instead overloading yourself with clubs you just pick one or two and stay passionate about them. If you could get a leadership postion in one that would be even better. A college would rather see you be Vice President or even Treasurer of one club then a member of five. Good Luck and stay positive and confident!

Your chances are good about getting into a decent college.

In addition to what you mentioned there is an interview and essay about a topic, the actual results of the SAT and grades that you have not as yet earned.

When you apply to college select some that you are certain of acceptance, some that you may think are very easy to be accepted, and some that you would like to go to but don’t think will accept you. Students are very frequently surprised.

if you go to a college and are not happy with the school there is always an opportunity to transfer.

Well, you’re definitely way better than me. I’m going into 8th grade, and I’ve never been on honors before so that’s really good. I think your chances of getting into a really good college/university are pretty good at this point. I wouldn’t worry about your PSAT test score for now, nobody is perfect (although some people like to think they are). Hope I helped you answer this.

I have heard and read that colleges look at 10-12 grade. You look like your stepping your game up. Colleges like to see that you are well rounded: you can join clubs, volunteer and still keep up your grades. Remember… when you write your admissions essay tell the college what you will bring to the school– joining clubs and doing things out of school will help you find that!

that’s not really that bad. everyone does terrible on their first pre sat, don’t worry about that, you just get better and better, and you can retake the real one multiple times.
