I’d recommend taking as many practice SAT tests as you can. A good place to start is with College Board’s The Official SAT Study Guide (a paperback book you could pick up on amazon.com or in any major bookstore). They have 8 official practice tests and online scoring available, as well as a study guide and sample essays. I found that the best way for me to raise my scores was to get my hands on as many practice tests as possible to familiarize myself more with the test format and content. And skim-reading different study guides and strategies helped as well.

Good luck!! I hope this helps!

Yeah, as the other guy said, definately swing by Barnes and Noble and pick up some SAT practice tests. The classes don’t do much and are a pain in the butt, but the more you get used to the test and the type of questions they ask, the more confident you will feel taking it and the better off you will be. Also they recycle some questions from older tests so you could see something you answered when you were studying. Also, it will get you used to the kinds of things they ask, so when your taking it you will find that some of the quewstions are similar to ones you answered before and that will help you alot. Make sure you eat breakfast that morning too!

Go to your local bookstore (Barnes and Noble, Borders etc) and look for Cracking the SAT published by Princeton Review. While in that section you will see others by Kaplan and Powerscore. Any of these will help as long as the have a CAT (computer aided or assisted testing disk) This allows you to practice at home and you get a sense of the type of questions asked. You also learn how to pace your self so you don’t time out. The book will give you hints on which answers to avoid (If it looks too good it’s probably wrong). I have looked at some of the “Dummies” but they are not as effective as the ones I have mentioned. Princeton review is my favorite.

Good luck and welcome to the community of lifetime learners.

Take practice tests online. They are free and they also have free refresher courses online also. It helped me out alot when I had to take the accuplacer entrance exam for college.
