Open book and open notes?

I have a college exam tomorrow that is open book and open notes.

Would it be considered cheating if I printed out information from the internet and use it for the exam as my notes?

It’s up to the professor, Some of mine allow it.

My advice is to printout what you want to use, and ask the professor before you get the test.

I’ve taken a stats course and hated it. Open book tests are actually harder than closed books. Psychologically speaking, students wont study as hard because they feel they have their note card. Open book seems fine but I can understand where the students are coming from with wanting their open notes. Open notes probably have better explanations of how they got the solutions rather than the textbook just giving you an answer. I say give them a freebie ONCE and see if the test scores increase with them using their own notes. If it works, you can always have them use just one 8 1/2 and 11 inch paper with their notes on it. If you really don’t want the open notes, you can always give them extra credit or scale higher.

Most likely. Open notes usually mean the notes you took from class. Don’t risk it

I don’t think it would be cheating but you never know. I would think you would do better going through the book and tabbing and highlighting the things you’ve covered in class. Good luck on your test.
