My college app tells me to write all the dates that i took the ACT and SAT?

Could I just write one of them down (my best score one) because writing all of them down will show them i took it more than once. And also can i not write down the SAT date to say that i didn’t take it because i don’t want to send them my SAT score?

It doesn’t matter whether you write down the dates or not. The College Board will send all your scores for the last 4 years anyway.

But don’t worry. Colleges always count only your best score. Some of them will count your best combined score, while others will count the best individual scores and put them together. So if you did better on math one time and better on critical reasoning a different time, some colleges will count each best score for your total.

The reason the application asks for all your test dates is to see how much your best score is the result of taking it lots of times. There are studies that show people’s scores go up the more times they take the test. As a result, some students were taking the test 10 times and more. After a while, they got so good at test taking, that their scores looked higher than they really should. But if you took the SAT only a few times, don’t sweat it. You will be evaluated on just your best scores (as will all the other applicants, of course). But since you can’t keep the colleges from seeing all of the scores anyway, you might as well write down the dates. If you don’t, it will look like you are trying to be sneaky or dishonest. Good luck!!

Actually, it is acceptable to take the test more than once. The benefit with the SAT is that they can add up your highest scores for each section and use it as your SAT score if you report every score you have gotten. However, no such benefit exists with the ACT–they just use your highest composite score from one test administration.

If you didn’t send an SAT report anywhere, it’s alright–you don’t have to report the scores on your application. However, you probably did send it somewhere since the SAT allows you to send the SAT to four places for free when you sign up for the test. Also, if you send in any SAT Subject Test scores, the college will see your entire score history for SAT Reasoning Test and SAT Subject Tests up to the point when you had the last test before you sent in the scores.

You could just give your best ACT score on the application if the ACT allows you to only send in your best score to the colleges.

Of course, all your SAT Scores and ACT Scores could be on your transcript. You are going to have to tell your guidance counselor (in writing) that you want to hide the scores you want to hide. The test scores are on your transcript.

Just write them all down. It’ll show that you never give up. Plus, they only consider your top score. The nice people at the ACT place will send that college ALL of your scores, so it’s pointless to lie anyway. It’ll just make you look bad.

You should write the one with the best score.
