I’m thinking of applying to Cornell…?

But my SAT score absolutely sucks. Like…1500-1600. My ACT score on the other hand, is 32. Is it possible that I report my ACT score ONLY, and not my SAT?

Yes, it is possible. But if you have SAT Subject Tests to report, your SAT Reasoning Test scores will go along for the ride. Your ACT score is really high, and it should be enough. Remember that standardized scores don’t make an application. It’s about a lot more than that.

You can by all means do that but you’d be in the minority of students that do so. Cornell gives you the choice of submitting your SAT and/or ACT. I think the best thing to do is submit both so that they can show them that you did better one then the other, which will show that both tests are testing different things. Don’t worry about SAT’s though, colleges would rather see that you have a high gpa, taking a challenging courseload, and having strong extracurriculars. Your essay will def. be what reels them in, if your only lacking on the SAT area. Just apply early decision and your chances of acceptance will go from 20 tor 40-50%. I used to be an assistant in the admissions officer at Columbia, and trust me The SAT is only a small part int he admissions, in fact we won’t even look at them until the very end of the selection process. However, if your gpa is lacking and ur extracuricalars are minimimal we won’t even proceed in looking at your applications even if you have a perfect SAT score.

Cornell uses the Common Application (commonapp.org).

Go to this site.

http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/firstyear/

Then click on or download the pdf link in #5 (Freshman Admissions Requirements Chart).

Look up the major you want to apply for. It will tell you which tests that you must send in scores for. Most of them don’t look like they need an SAT if you have the ACT, so I wouldn’t worry too much. 😉
