How is the PSAT and SAT different?

I know that there won’t be an essay on the PSAT.

But beside that, is the content level pretty much the same? Or is the PSAT easier?

The PSAT is like preparation for the SAT. From personal experience I can tell you that the PSAT was a little bit easier, and I do mean a little bit. Both tests are supposed to be on the same difficulty level, but that wasn’t the case with me. The SAT is much longer to take than the PSAT, and the PSAT has less questions and no essay.

According to College Board, the PSAT is made a little bit easier. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/about/sat/FAQ.html#quest15

To give you an idea, though, when I took the PSAT junior year, I got 212; then I took the SAT two-ish months later and got a 2120– which would seem to suggest that they’re about the same… but the year before that I got the same score on the PSAT, 212, but somewhat lower on the SAT (it was the old test, so I can’t really compare the scores). I thought the PSAT was about the same if not a little harder, but just because we took the PSAT in the auditorium at my school with clipboards to write on, lol. Not exactly ideal testing situations. I don’t think the problems are much different at all.

the PSAT is a little easier. Then again I did take it in 2000, so it may have changed since then. It doesnt really count for anything though.
