The SAT Subject Tests (formerly SAT II) are not hard if you’ve taken and done well in the corresponding high school courses, preferably AP level. They’re not hard if you’re familiar with the material. Go to

http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/lc_two.html

and http://www.sparknotes.com/testprep/sat2/ for more information, and try the Princeton Review’s test prep books for the Physics and Chemistry SAT Subject Tests.

I do recommend taking tests from a larger variety of subject areas, however. It’s fine to take two science tests, but on a future date or the same date, venture into other subject areas like history, english, and mathematics. I took two science subject tests, physics and chemistry, and I also took the U.S. history, literature, and math level 2 tests.

The Chem SAT II test is not worth taking without AP chemistry. I took the one in June and got a 790 but the kids who took it in May got 760s. (this is my AP chem class).

The test does not really focus on any particular area. It asks you all around. You needed to gave done experiments, seen chemicals and understand underlying principles to have a shot at a 700+. I suggest taking a couple of practice tests and then deciding if you want to take the test or not. (no calculator is a bummer).

I suggest taking Math level 2 b/c the SAT 2 curves are very harsh and Math level 1 curve is brutal compared to level 2’s. I’d say Math was really easy – just SAT math w/ a slight increase in difficulty. I think getting 800 is 88th percentile on Math 2…

don’t take two science tests. that’s just a waste of money. Take two tests in two of these different areas:

Math, Science, History, Literature, Foreign Language

Colleges will require 2 or 3 tests from 2 or 3 different areas.

It’s good you’re not taking the English test.
