Choose a quiet place to study without any distractions. I started to go to the library where there are no phone calls, must-see TV shows, etc. Concentrate on your work, and maybe you can reward yourself by going on the computer. This way, you”ll have both. For example, if you get an A on the next quiz/test, you can reward yourself two hours on the computer or something. Getting straight A’s does NOT mean studying 100% of the time.
also, going on the computer seems like something people use to procrastinate (facebook, myspace, AIM, youtube, email, etc…sound familiar?). You can avoid this by setting a certain alotted time to study, like the first thing you do after school or something. I would advise you to get your studying done before you go online though.
Also, studying a lot does not necessarily mean you’ll get the grade. You need to find the strategies for studying smart. for example, skimming the history chapter 7 times may not be as efficient as reading it thoroughly 2 times. concentrating on the math problems you do not know instead of doing every single problem (including the ones you do know) twice is also less time consuming and more efficient.
It is much better to study a little bit every night than to cram the night before a test, and if you have any questions about the subject, never hesitate to ask your teacher.
If you’re taking 2 honors courses and 5 AP’s (…like I am), then it is much harder to get straight A’s. What level courses are you taking? If they’re Honors, APs or IBs then of course it’s going to be harder, but you can do it!! good luck!
