How difficult is it to get a 90+ average in Grade 11?

I’m in Grade11, and for my first semester I have Physics, Chemistry, computer programming and canadian law, all University level.

I want to get 90s or higher in these courses because there will be a good computer in it for me, plus I want to prove to my parents that I can. But is it simply impossible? I’ve sworn to myself to work hard and do my best but I’m afraid you need some uncommon mental ability to get 90s in these courses. I’m not a stupid person though.

Some tips on achieving my goal would help too

it will take a lot of work but you can pull it off.

if you’re fairly (and by fairly i mean more than fairly) intelligent, you can pull low 90s in all those courses easy. god knows i did. but i was a lazy brat who didn’t want to do the work and just scored really high on the tests.

with consistent work, you can kick a!ss.

and i will give you one, and only one recipe to every canadian high school success (and i assume it’s canadian if you’re studying canadian law):

do your homework! every night!

you do that, and you’re all set. teachers drone on about it from grade primary, but it kicks in around grade 11. that’s the key to high school success :o)

and good luck. you’ll do good, i’m sure.

If it was necessary to possess an uncommon mental ability, then the classes would probably not be offered on a regular basis.

I’ve taken all of those classes (except canadian law) as university based credits in high school and the classes at a university as well. The grade you achieve is the time that you’re willing to put into it.

On average, for college level classes, the unwritten rule is that you will be studying 3 hours x (number of credits its worth) each week.

For College level physics with lab, most will give you 5 credits, so 15 hours a week or around 2 hours a day.

Personally I think the number is a bit high, but it just depends on you.

I took AP Bio last year in 11th…it was hard for me. I’m not a science person AT ALL. I’d rather read my William Faulkner and Shakespeare. I took AP Bio because it seemed interesting and I wanted to see what it was like. Bio will require a lot of memorization and studying…for me it felt endless. If you’re good with memorization, then you should take it. Think about how good you are with science and memorization…and the possible risk it can cause to your GPA. I’m not trying to scare you…I don’t regret taking AP Bio even though it was a ton of work. It was a really interesting class. I can’t help you with the other courses bc I didn’t take them

they dont require “uncommon mental ability”, but they do require an ability to understand science based in mathematics and computers in general, and lots of memorization. some people have a hard time with this stuff, and for some it comes naturally. for some it’s just about working hard. there is no reason u shouldn’t get A’s if you are studying your butt off.

How easy it is depends on your school–at some schools they hate failing people and give out A’s like candy, at others you have to work way more. It’s definitely not impossible, just spend a lot of time studying and you’ll be all right.

Work hard and you get what you put into it.
