If A Child’s Parent Is Their Teacher In The Class, Should They Be Called Mom/Dad Or Mr/Mrs So and So?

In my time at school, I was in the class with the teachers’ kids a couple of times. One was in the 6th grade whose mother made her son call her mom in the clasroom. In high school 11th grade the teacher made his son call him Mr. so and so durng school time only and not to be called as :dad”.

I’m just curiou about this, do you think the teacher’s kids can call them mom/dad in the classroom?

No, they should refer to the teacher in the same way as the other kids in the class do.

I was an A level student (age 17-18) taught by my mum and we all called her “Mrs __”. And when I helped in playgroup, my three year old would start to call me “Catherine” the moment we went through the door, and go back to “mummy” the moment we came out again.

I don’t think they should say “mom” or “dad” in the classroom; they should use “Mr.” or “Mrs.” whoever. I say this because, by using an informal and loving term like mom or dad, the other students may think the child is getting special attention, easy good grades, etc. They might also be more likely to tease the child (nothing says “teacher’s pet” like having your parent as your teacher!) Parents who have their own children in class should treat their child like any other student, and children should treat their parent like any other teacher. It’s only fair.
