I have a reading disability that I’m trying to define and cure, if possible. Can someone help me?

I’m an adult male, I have a problem trying to read. I can’t seem to get past a couple of sentences because I keep going back to the beginning and starting over. I’ve not always had this problem. I completed 2 years college and use to be able to read my entire textbooks when I was in high school…to get ahead of the rest of the class. This is the main reason why I can’t understand why I’m having so much trouble reading now. I use to love to read but now it just frustrates & aggravates me whenever I try. It feels almost like a kind of dyslexia. Anyone know what’s happening to me and how I can cure this?

It sounds like you may just be distracted as you are reading. I can’t really offer you any big tips because I don’t know what kind of material you are reading.

You may really be completely uninteresting in the subject matter and only getting through a few sentences before losing interest happens to the best of us.

This doesn’t sound like dyslexia. This would have shown up long ago. Most of my students hate reading now and have to reread all the time because they don’t have a clue what they just read. If it is dyslexia there is no cure only ways to compensate for the disability.

I would seek some professional help to see if you might have a vision issue or something else going on.

Good luck.

You now have to deal with much more than you did as a kid.You may be worried or anxious about your kids, spouse, bills and so many more things.

Are you on any medications ? Many can have that side effect of making concentration and learning difficult.

Perhaps choose reading material that is on a lower difficulty level.Don’t worry that you are not reading as much as you used to.Try Non fiction over fiction. It’s easier to read.

You can also ask your doctor about this.

Good luck

I dont know how old you are, but what about stress levels? How is your blood pressure? Have you ever had a headinjury where you passed out? What about drug use? Where do you work? Are you in contact with chemical? You many need to see a physician and get some detective work started.

get your yes tested for astigmatism.

read with a sheet of paper, as you read one line move the paper down.

I have astigmatism and often find my self reading the same line 2-3 times.
