I am dyslexic and ADHD. I am a slow learner. However, I have not been fired. Most employers I have always shown that I am a hard worker and will eventually catch on. I have my masters in and I am a Special Education Teacher.

By all means a person can keep a job who has a learning disablility. I have worked with special education children for 18 years and they are now adults with good jobs. I have an autistic nephew who is working at a nursing home in the cafeteria. He makes 11 dollars an hour plus time and a half overtime. He is doing wonderfully. I have a student that is now 25 and a truck driver who makes really good money. I could go on and on. The thing is that you have to find a job that you enjoy. Then you can be sure that you will want to continue to do it and be successful at it. Don’t give up. You will find your niche in life and become successful. Maybe try taking a career test through the DOORS program or check on-line because there are a lot of free career tests on there and that will help you to know your strong suit. Good luck and God bless.

I think you need to be sure your job is suited with your learning disability. Maybe seeking vocational rehabilitation in your area could help find a job that suits you or they may be able to provide you with tools to help you overcome your disability.

Not to sound rude, but be sure your inability to keep a job has to do with your disability. I know a young man who has difficulty reading and writing. He took a job in security where he did not have to fill out reports. However, he had problems getting motivated to get to work on time. This is not disability related.

Is there someone close to you that can give you honest feedback as to what they see going on? When you are let go from a job what are the reasons.

It is important not to let your disability be the excuse not to work to your greatest potential. Then you are giving up. Good luck to you.

Think of what you LIKE to do that you are good at. Think of what your STRENGTHS are. And try to pick jobs using this.

My 17 yr daughter, I am so scared for her in having a job. She is almost at the door of life.

She is the same as you. She will not be able to do fast jobs, jobs with a lot of detail, etc.

I am hoping she will get a job being a vet assistant or something like this, because she will not be the one ‘in charge’, she loves animals, she will do a good job taking care of them, she won’t have to be fast, etc.

It doesnt’ matter WHAT job you get, just as long as you feel you can do it and are happy with it.

Find your local ‘job rehabilitation’ office. This is an organization run by either the city or state that helps people with disaiblities get a job. They helped my brother.

Of course they can, as long as you find the right job. What is your learning disability?
