I disagree. You CAN do well without having passion, but what kind of life is that?

If you’re lucky enough to find something that you’re passionate about (not all of us do), pour your heart into it. Your failures will sting much more (and trust me, you will have failures), but success will come much more easily in the long run, and it will be infinitely sweeter.

Oh passion is the motivating factor in all endevours…without passion who would have crossed the ocean to America, who would have climbed Everest, traversed the Antarctic, flew across the Atlantic…Passion is the root of everything, including learning…I once saw an interview with Marvin Hamlish, entertainer and song writer, and he said his mother drove him into learning piano then at about 12, his ego (passion) took hold and he wanted to be the best piano player ever..the same applies to anything.

Passion is what drives you to do something, to be something and to do it well. Passion can come in many different forms. For the hick in Tennessee who just wants to drink beer and watch racing, really drinking and watching well is what passion drives him to do, although it may not be apparent to him. This is just one obscure example, obviously. You don’t have to have it, but I think self-confidence, high self-esteem, and in some cases arrogance stem from a passion to do well, be well, and put on a persona of success. Passion is a drive to do something, but it doesn’t necessarily break the surface of human thought and is recognized as passion.
