Haman was the #2 guy in the Persian realm under Xerxes. According to the book of Esther in the Bible, he built a gallows to hang all the Jews to exterminate them. Particularly the man Mordicai who had saved Xerxes’ life and subsequently humiliated Haman who had to lead him through the streets on the King’s own horse. Anyway, the story goes that Esther (Mordecai’s niece, though hiding that fact and the fact that she was Jewish) asked her husband Xerxes for the lives of the Jewish people. She said that Haman planned on killing her since he planned on killing the Jewish people. Xerxes ended up hanging Haman on his own gallows since he threatened the life of his queen.
Not sure about why Jackson said it about Calhoon, but basically it means to hang someone by his own rope.
