This quote basically means that you recognize and appreciate the good more if you have something not so good to compare it to.
I like it because, having just moved to the south from the north, I really don’t like summer as much as I did before, not because summer is hotter, but because it is nearly endless. Furthermore, in my life I have learned to take in the good more earnestly, because the bad is always there to make the good more exhilarating.
The most beautiful experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand wrapped in awe is as good as dead. His eyes are closed.

It means that the joy and trials of life is about conditioning you to understand that there is something greater than you in the works and by learning to think beyond yourself and accepting that you gain the humility to be truly happy. All too often people get caught up in their mundane and materialistic lives and don’t think to step back and say its not about me… there’s more to life than my reflection (though important) you are blessed with a gift and have been granted the opportunity to share it with others (often in the most unlikely of situations) and it takes great humility to take time to share that, not for personal gain but because you want to.
I chose it because it has proven to be true in my life, and everyday I am learning to appreciate where I have been, what I have gained and loss, and where I am going to go.
