Basically, it is referring to either telling a lie to spare someone’s feelings or telling the truth and possibly hurting their feelings. An example being “Do you think that I should go on a diet?” Answering yes might be the honest answer, but answering no will likely make the person feel better.

A lie can make you smile, even though you know the truth. Where as the trhough can bring a tear, because it brings you into reality.

Sometimes we prefer to say a lie that can make you happy because the truth can hurt you.
A lie that make you happy is worth more han a truth than makes bitter your life.

I would say…..you can lie about something so not to hurt someones feelings, or tell them the truth even if it hurts their feelings.

I think it means that when you hear a lie it can make you happy at times, (if its what you want to hear) and the truth can make you cry if its not what you want to hear
