If your happiness depends on having the hottest video game, being popular, having lots of money, a cool car — in short, if your happiness depends on external things outside of yourself — then you’ll never be truly happy. Next month, there’s be a new hot video game; there’s always someone more popular; money is easily lost; the cool car becomes old. These are ephemeral phenomena that don’t last.

The only true happiness comes from within. You’re either happy or your not. If you must be happy because of [fill in the blank], it’s not real happiness.
