Impalpable: Incapable of being perceived by senses (touch)

So poetry brings us out of our realms, into another universe. It touches our soul which is neither physical nor imaginary. All emotions are somewhat an unknown and poetry seeks to manipulate emotion.

The world is made of stories, not of atoms.: It’s the people in life, the experience of life, the joys, the sadness, the risks, the ups, the downs that define our world, who we are, and where we will be tomorrow.

This is very complicated. I’ve never heard of Muriel Rukeyser or her quote. But could it possibly mean that literature can tell us more than just stories? Or even that stories, and even writing, can become a part of us all. And the world is made of everyone’s stories- their life. So we’re not all just atoms- not just pieces of flesh and skin, and not just humans. Maybe, this Muriel Ruckeyser is talking deeper, more about how writing can affect people and how it can change someone’s life.
