what do you think of this quote?

“friendships are like broken glass. sometimes it’s better to leave it broken rather than hurt yourself trying to put it back together.”

Personally I’d rather take a chance putting it back together. Obviously though, it depends on how it broke in the first place.

I think at the surface the quotation appeals to the innate instinct in all of us to protect ourselves by blocking out outsiders, especially ones that have been close and have hurt us before.

But one simply can’t just stop living life because of the fear of being hurt. It is a common occurrence in life. Tao-tzu once said that “there is a time for everything in life” (roughly translated). This means there is a time for being hurt, there is a time for feeling pain, there is a time for feeling, just as there is a time for feeling happy, and feeling accomplished. It’s natural.

However, it is up to the individual to decide whether it is worth going through the pain to bring back that good friend. This is rather a testament to how strong and meaningful the friendship is in the first place. But don’t give up on a good friend just because you’ve been hurt. You’ll end up regretting it.

I think that whoever said that has had a fair share of broken friendships. This is an example of an immature person trying to fix problems that they either created or can not fix and end up hurting more people along the way. It might be true, there is the possibility to hurt more people when trying to fix certain things that have gone wrong in a relationship, I have been there. Leaving them be if the choice of the people involved, and it is their choice, regardless of the circumstance.

It’s a great description of a friendship that was once very beautiful but somehow it became so damaged and shattered by negativity that it has become irreparable. One cannot continue to try to hang onto a relationship simply because of what it once was. This only causes unnecessary pain; therefore, one must face reality and let go of this unpleasant situation.

I like it.

I think it means that if you and your friend have a bad fight, it may be best to leave each other alone than to try to be friends and keep fighting about the past.

sounds lik you lost a friend?

i like this one better

good friends would help you up if you trip and fall

real friends you trip you and help you up and do it all over again

or this one too!

good friends would bail you out of jail if you get into trouble

true friends would be sitting next to you say “dang, we fcuk up big time”

No one in their right mind would ever try to put broken glass back together. You sweep it up and toss it.

kinda sad, but in some cases it can be true…although we wish to repair what we can of our shattered friendships its sometimes easier said than done, esp in cases where something big has happened…
