i read it almost five years ago, and i still think that book is unintentionally funny. i think it’s mostly about irony. the main character, wang, is so obsessed about omens and having sons to take over his well earned land, and in the end, it turns out that his sons are big disappointments, and his favorite child is his mentally retarded daughter.
lol.
wangs lesson at the end was telling his sons to always keep the land, never sell the land. your property is most important to you.
