la coeur a ses raisons…?
“la coeur a ses raisons que la raison ne connait pas”
This is driving me crazy… I know what it means, but where did it come from!?

This quote comes from the book, Pensées (Thoughts), written by Blaise Pascal, French mathematician, physicist and philosopher (1623 – 1662).
A slightly longer version of the quote is translated as follows: “The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know. We feel it in a thousand things.”
Or in the original French: “Le cœur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point; on le sait en mille choses.”
You can see a full English translation of Pascal’s Pensées at the Gutenberg source given below.
