I ask, “Are you guys interested in any desserts?”
“I’d love to, but I’d end up getting sick.”
He’s saying that he’d gladly risk getting sick in order to taste the dessert.
He’s willing to take the chance of there being negative consequences to his actions if he’s able to experience those good things.
It could be considered a good philosophy or bad…
I mean…
One could argue that a person who thinks like this is living his life for the moment. They aren’t worried about tomorrow because, for all we know, there may never be a tomorrow. They’re getting everything out of life that they can WHILE they can.
Another could argue that this person is compulsive. They don’t think about the consequences of their actions; they’re just interested in the immediate gratification.
=-) Sorry if I ramble.
