It sounds to me like the item, before it was buried, was of very little value. After it is buried in the sand and then is uncovered a thousand years later, it will be valuable because it is now an ancient artifact. To the person finding the artifact, it can be priceless monetarily or it can be priceless in the sense that it could provide clues about a past civilization.

That’s my take on it.

like back in the old days they could have made a pot or pan and it was nothing to them like they could have just bought it for nothing but after time goes on it because ancient it becomes priceless it means so much you can put price on it.
