Have you noticed….?
that on T.V., while performing a wedding, the preacher would say “I pronounce you Man And Wife” if it was based from an earlier time. Now if a wedding is based on current time, the preacher now says “I pronounce you Husband and Wife”.
What gives?

Women’s lib.
Many churches changed to “Husband and Wife” in the 1970s.
Some couples prefer one wording over the other, and some ministers insist on one wording rather than the other.
A smart groom knows that that many battles lie ahead over things that *do* matter, so he’s a damned fool if he even expresses a *preference* when it comes to peach versus lavender for decorating the church or something as minor as the wedding vows.

prolly because they realized that actually the correct term would either be husband and wife or man and woman
