Can someone explain the meaning of this quote to me.?

I found this Japanese Quote and I was wondering if anyone knows what it means.

“With the first glass a man drinks wine, with the second glass the wine drinks the wine, with the third glass the wine drinks the man.”

I don’t understand it.

It means the man is in control when he drinks the first glass of wine, with the second glass it is 50/50, and by the third glass of wine, it is the wine that is in control.

Its pretty self explanatory. It’s about the power of alcohol over the mind/body.

“With the first glass a man drinks wine” The man is in control, using moderation.

“With the second glass the wine drinks the wine” The power is shifting from the man to the wine.

“With the third glass the wine drinks the man” The man has now lost all power and his actions will be controlled by the substance/wine.

I would say this is reminding us all to be moderate, and not excessive.

It means that with obsessions, like alcohol, you start off thinking you can handle it and addiction doesn’t apply to you.

The second step is an even match between you and the obsession.

The third step, you lose, and you are obsessed or addicted and now under the power of the addiction. You’ve lost control.

it means that as someone drinks more wine hat he becomes a drunkard and the wine now is in control.

Well, to me it means that the more a man drinks, the less HE is in control, and the more the drink is controlling him instead.

Sounds to me like a wise admonition to exercise responsible drinking.
