The physical distance created by the walk, i think , symbolizes how Frost has distanced himself from his wife emotionally. When he stops, and reaches a calm point, when the hour was ‘all still’ and free from anger, he was able to have ‘driven a bee away'(push aside any feelings of resentment) and reconcile with his wife.

The fact that the poem is written as a conversation, with both sides arguing wether she called or not, to me, seems to reveal the pride that Frost, his wife and people in general tend to display when reflecting on an argument; neither party would admit they were wrong, or the first to try and make amends.

The poem even bears resemblance to the spontaneity of every-day speech in that there seems to be disjointed text and self-correction. This combined with other evidence suggested above is what lead me to believe that the poem is a reflection on an argument.
