No! If they want to buy 30 to cover each class and move them around school, then I have no problem with that, as our elementary schools do that too.

Schools can use laptops that stay in each room and are connected to a network so students can access folders from any computer there and work on their own stuff from any computer. There can also be “roving” computers like someone else suggested, where teachers can reserve the laptops for class periods a day ahead of time instead of having some laptops sitting idle in some classrooms where they are not as frequently needed.
Honestly, I think it would be great for a school to provide laptops, especially because not all students can afford laptops (and some don’t have access to a computer at home either) and more and more work is done in word processors or with webquests and internet research. The tricky part is that the laptops need to stay in school for obvious reasons, meaning the students go back on unequal footing as soon as they go home. It’s a start, though.
