Who here has read The Prince by Niccolo Macheivelli? Any opinions?

I started to fall asleep during the intro so I stopped and now I think I’ll get get to the first chapter. I need some positive feedback so I can look forward to it. (It’s required for school that I read it)

“The Prince” has some very interesting thoughts about government and the responsibilities and perrogatives of those in power. It isn’t “cut” as quickly as writing today, but I think you’ll find it worth the time to read it.

The phrase “Macheivellian politics” stems from this book, which takes on a sinister connotation in most people’s minds, but we look at it from the frame of a representative democracy with a (semi) educated population. Macheivelli wrote at a time when the general population wasn’t well educated and those in power were often plotted against by other political factions in an age when violence was a normal means of removing a ruler.

Small chunks may be in order, but its worth the read.
