In private school the classes are smaller and they care more about making sure your child learns, it’s more individualized and the teachers take the time to work with your child. Granted you do pay tuition but it’s well worth it. The teachers care more and your child will learn. It’s a much better education. Your child will also be taught good study habits and discipline which will carry them through their educational years.

In public school the classes are large, less disciplined and I don’t want to say the teachers don’t care but they are so understaffed the don’t have the time for individualized help/care for your child. Your child is passed along and will fall through the cracks if they require extra help.

I’ve learned this through personal experience with my children.

Depends on whether you are in England or US as they have different meanings. Most of the answers given so far are based on US experiences. Public schools are supported by taxes and the quality of the schools depends on the tax richness of the school district and the dedication of the parents and citizens. If the population is overwhelmingly poor and undereducated themselves and the property old with low tax value, then the schools tend to match with discipline problems and difficulty holding teachers. Private schools cover a broad range of goodness to badness, but they are all supported by donations, endowments, and tuition, not taxes. A small religious school will have low paid teachers but few discipline problems because the money even if relatively low will have a direct connection to the parents who back the principal and the teachers. A more elite private or military school may have funds from investments of the endowment given by wealthy founders or graduates. Such a school may be used for academic achievement or disciplining students who have been in trouble in other schools but will certainly cost a bunch of money. Since people with a bunch of money tend to be better educated the students come in with an advantage and go up from there.

I went to public schools and my nephew who is in 8th grade now has attended a private Christian school for all of his education so far. I’d say the difference is that he has studies about Christianity and memorizes scripture and his entire 8th grade class consists of about 30 students. Because of a small “class” size it is just more close-knit and I would think it may feel safer. As for all the academics it’s all the same. From what I hear it doesn’t sound like they get any more individualized attention than in public school and he has had good and bad teachers just like you’ll find anywhere. I think I had more opportunity with sports in school than he has at the small private school. I also notice that because there are only about 30 students in his grade his pool to choose his friends from is smaller which can be limiting.

Public schools struggle to keep any teacher that meets minimum hiring requirements. Private schools can be much more picky. Private schools have the money to provide up to date equipment, where as a former public school student I remember using books from the 70’s that were falling apart.

I had an instructor at SLCC that worked at a private school in the day time that pointed out another benefit to private schools–the connections. She gave the example of a student that hurt his knee and, because of his contacts with parents of fellow students, was able to see a top doctor the next day even though there was a 3 month (if I remember correctly) waiting list to see him.

Well in private school the student to teacher ratio is a lot smaller. In public school there is usually like 25-30 in one class and in private school it’s more like 10-15 ish. You also get to put on your college applications that you went to private school. You get into better colleges. That’s as much as I know.

In private school, you pay thousands of dollars to attend. The education is the same as in public school, however, class sizes are smaller, giving the individual child a lot of attention. (more hands on) than public school.

If you live in the U.S. then ‘public school’ is paid for by the city, county, and state you live in, and ‘private school’ is paid for by your family or a scholarship. If you live in England, private school is paid for by the government, and public school is paid for by your family or a scholarship. The educations are ‘similar’ but not ‘the same’ … and generally a ‘private’ (public in England) school education is ‘better’ because it’s both ‘broader’ and ‘deeper’ than the public school (private in England) can be.

I hate for this to be my answer but.

who funds them. I know what your thinking I know that but have you thought of this. money talks. they’ll have to answer to the people who’s paying them. in public schools thats the government.

though before you make a decision you should get more info than that.

hope this helps.
