Each school is different, but the baseline is as follows:
Distinguished Honor Roll – No lower than an A (4.0) (And A- does not qualify)
Honor Roll – No lower than a B (3.0)
So Distinguished is better;)

It’s not necessary, because your GPA reflects that you made the honor roll. If you were on the honor roll enough to get into the Honor Society, though, you should DEFINITELY list THAT. Don’t forget, also, if there is a place to list other activities and awards (non-academic) that you list church and civic leadership roles and awards…such as Scouts, winning any contests based on skills, such as art or essay contests, etc.

“Distinguished” is better — that is, it requires a higher GPA or some other form of higher performance. However, these terms aren’t officially used across the country, so there’s no consistent definition for both. Other schools will have different standards for what “distinguished” means, or might not offer a “distinguished” ranking at all. Check with officials at your school for the specifics.

Each school has its own definition for the honor roll. Read the handbook to see what each one is.
