Yeah, I suggest you talk to your teacher. They will know where you are going wrong, whereas any answer we can give is us just making it up.

Interest and information certainly helps. Try reading more. That Social Studies is not really a subject, but a mishmash of different thing, probably doesn’t help.

You need to find a “context” or “hook” for what you are studying. Think about Bill Clinton and the Lewinsky scandal or a scandal called Watergate. It’s amazing how many people learned about the impeachment process and the three branches of government. Always remember that government is about people and where there are people there is a good story to find. Find your hook.

Taking notes is always a good memory booster.

You HEAR what the teacher says,SEE what the teacher writes and you also SEE what you write down. You have impressed the new information a little more solidly into your memory then it would have been if you were just sitting and listening.

Going back and looking over your notes later that evening will be a good refresher also.

I can tell you are a clever student who knows all your facts with all As in other classes. Social studies might require you to apply which you haven’t been doing which explains your lacklustre performance.

I suggest, practice, practice and more practice! Get yourself familiarised with the format of the examination paper, types of questions asked and techniques in answering them.

All the best to you, my friend. 🙂
