Should I go back to highschool? I make over 150 grand a year but I feel so uneducated I know I am not stupid.?

I’ve gone this far without a diploma… I’ve never graduated highschool. I’m 30 years old with a child in middle school.. I never liked school and I dont know if I can do it…I tried getting my GED and I hated studying..

the decision is ultimately yours and yours alone… but .. If you can work through the frustration – I would say yes – go for it – you may find a little more peace and self acceptance once it’s accomplished – who knows, you might enjoy and further develop your educational assets

Who cares.

The average highschool graduate has to work hard for 20 years just to make $40K a year.

Most College Professors will NEVER MAKE YOUR SALARY.

Your SALARY is starting level for a Surgeon with 12 years college or 24 years of total school!

You’re having the last laugh, so just laugh hearty.

And if anything see if a college will give you credits for life experience and take a few classes and then if you really want to apply for a job at K-Mart making $18K a year you can circle, in all honesty “some college” on the application!

Now, go have a good belly laugh!

Post-highschool education trains you to be a better employee…if you clear over 150K without any kind of formal education i’d call that very, very fortunate. You seem to be one of those rare exceptions in life. But don’t feel like you have to get an education just ‘cuz everyone does. That’s as absurd as those professional couples who absentmindedly agree to marriage and kids without thinking it through just ‘cuz their buddies are doing it too!

It should be about personal fulfillment and if it really does nothing for you, why bother? Just remember since you have kids, they may be tempted to forgo their education on the hopes that they’ll be as lucky as you, so just have some answers prepared if and when the time comes.

BTW, what kind of work do you do anyway?

If you are happy with your life and feel successful and your job isnt requiring you to get a diploma then I say skip it. Why make yourself miserable doing something you don’t like or excel at, just for the hell of it? If you want to become more “educated” for your own personal edification then I aplaud you and say this: remember that education does not always mean school. You can find books on every imaginable topic and you can read them to educate yourself in any area you like. Thge only thing I would recommend school for is to help you with your reading skills if they aren’t up to par. There are many adult ed programs that wil help you with literacy skills if you need them.

Take a TAFE course on the side and learn a new skill that you are interested in. Keep your job, that money is hard to find. Do something simple that you enjoy and know that if you hate studying, then it probably is not for you so don’t take a step back.
