I started playing the clarinet, and loved it. It’s easy at the beginning, and can get more challenging if you decide to pursue it further. I would recommend starting with the clarinet, and if your daughter wants to switch to the saxophone, allow her. I hear it’s a really easy transition between the clarinet and the tenor saxophone because some of the notes are the same. However, if your daughter is really intent on playing the saxophone now, let her. If she really loves the instrument, then she’ll apply herself and advance quickly.

Like your daughter, I wanted to play the saxophone as my instrument. However, I was told by the band director that a clarinet would be better suited when first learning to play. Once you learn to play a clarinet switching to a saxophone is easy, but I wouldn’t know that part because after I started on the clarinet I didn’t want to switch.

Your daughter should play any instrument that she would like to. She can always play a second instrument too. The saxaphone is a great instrument because it’s included in jazz, marching, and concert bands. If she has a passion, she should go for it.

Saxophones are pretty cool. French horns are in high demand in most schools, and they usually have enough school horns so she doesn’t have to get her own. Personally, I think you should let her choose, but if saxophone is what she is asking for then heck yeah, have her do that.

i have to know this too. my younger brother wants to play the sax on his first year too (also sixth grade) I’m not the musical type of person but it seems awful hard for the older kids, imagine to a beginner!

You’re all so ****** up on booz and drugs I can’t trust you with Instruments . All my spacial girls can be topless backing singers and I will do lyrics , music , lead guitar and being a pervert . x
