I would not encourage it because 7th and 8th grade are all about maturing as a person, and starting high school a year younger is challenging because everyone else really is more mature. Another option is to convince your parents to enroll you in community college enrichment classes. That way you have social time with people your age (school), and a chance to get your intellectual needs met.

If you are 100% sure you want to skip 7th–get your parents’ support, meet with the principal, prove you can do the work, prove you are mature for your age, and be ready to tackle the extra challenges of being the youngest and probably smallest.

Don’t skip 7th grade. It’s not good to skip any grades. Yes, 7th grade is a little harder than 6th, but it’s really not that bad. Just be glad that you’re in middle school. Middle school is the easiest thing ever. Wait till high school, then you’re screwed.

Sometimes it is better to stay in the grade that you are because of social interactions. I had a chance to skip 2nd grade and my mom said she would rather have a smart 2nd grader than a dumb 3rd grader.
