Excellent question. I was in grad school for physics and still not sure that it was what I wanted to do. You can spend a loooooong time figuring out your major/career- but I do not advise it.
You are still young and learning about the world, and college is sometimes a period of significant realignment of perspective and priorities about the world. Understand that flexibility is needed, but in the meantime actively pursue and seriously weigh your options- after all, there IS a timeclock on life. Learn and experience what you can so your decision will be informed. The “final criteria” about how to pick a major-well, ultimately you decide what that will be.

For me it was easy. I liked photography and filmmaking so I decided on a Cinema-Theater major.
